Do you actually know your ally, or clanmate?
Ally:
I know none of them. But some allies are very nice. I kik with them and I will visit their wall if I had nothing to do.
Clanmate:
Me and my clan members are real life close friends. Our clan is a 100% private clan and we never recruit others.
By setting up a private clan, it is more convenient for us to pass around prog/EP/BP/stack4 via the clan member list instead of searching pages of ally list. We can post private things @ clan member board. We don't need to worry about the gold-contribution to clan because we all agree to spend gold on level up the formation.
The most fun part is CLAN WAR. We sit down face to face in a restaurant to play clan war together if the war is outside office hour. If someone forgets to join a clan war battle and I really need help, I will call their cell phone multiple times to kindly remindforce them to join.
But the negative side is that, a private clan will limit the growth of clan. It will also restraint the clan war performance because our clan is lacking of people obviously, and we can't have resources to forge (EP) and battle (BP) @ same time.

i dont actually know my clan-mates irl. but the Lts and me have been in the same clan for so damn long(yr+), lol, that theres plenty of trust there. kik/cubie is a daily thing with us.
otoh, i also know these folks are hardworking student/people and dont have all the time in the world(they are basically part time players), so we dont even participate in clan wars. frankly the Lts are the only reason im still in this clan, though i have missed out on tons of clan war rewards/aaas, friends>AAAs
as for allies, i barely ever remove people so its a mix bag of random ppl ive never communicated with and a few online friends/clanmates

I had been allied with you for about 1 year. I am r.
Everytime I did skill point reset, I leave message and you add me back.

I've been in Squirrels United for about 400 days and have talked to the same 15 guys each day for basically all that time. When I signed on I had to use groupme for clan communication and it's fantastic, like a mini forum. Honestly, we're planning a vegas trip or bbq to all get together in 2014.

The clan is actually from all over, but most of us are 22+ years old so we thought Vegas would be a cool place where we could all do our own thing with our significant others, but still get together for at least night. I'm actually from Whittier, CA (LA area) so it's not too far for me at all.
