Players with same name?

So I've been playing this game for a while and one day I came across a player with the same name as me, Selene. I was checking the rankings and saw this player which confused me a lot. Plus that player was in Tyranny, and so am I. So this game lets us have same names..? I haven't talk to the player, just because it was creepy and weird.
