How to find a person in-game?

Say I find someone on the forum and would like to find them in game, either to battle or trade or chat with, how would I go about it? Like, if I shop in one of the forum stores for a monster and decide to trade, how would I find the person in-game in order to initiate said trade?

You can usually go to Battle and find them on the leaderboards.

If they are not ranked, you need to generally put a post on someone's message board who is on the leaderboards (spare the #1 guy, he gets it all the time) and tell the person to track you via that message.

I see, thanks. I hope the game finds some other way of connecting with people in the future, though. This seems pretty roundabout...
