Skill leveling, singles vs stacks

I'm sure this has been asked multiple times before but if anyone can provide a quick answer it would be most helpful. At what skill lvl is it best to switch from using singles and start using stacks?

1s to (4) or (5), 4s to (20)

the (4) - (5) gap is something you'll get different answers about depending on who you ask;

Personally what I find easiest is to use a 'partial stack' like a (2) to bridge (4)-(5), but stack rate for (4)-(5) using a (1) isn't too horrible, so depending on how much of a hurry you're in and what you have on-hand you can approach this in different ways

i.e.
you have 10 slumber stacks sitting around ready to level your blood blob(4). you also have a slumber single sitting around, go ahead and try use that single first so you can start using your stacks

or...

you have a blood blob(4) and one slumber single. better to wait for another slumber single, get a slumber(2) and use that to get to (5)


finally; one last thing to consider is sos. Depending on what skill you have in mind to level; it may be far cheaper to use sos/+ than stacks (not even talking about uncommon skills like cl, hb, at; I'm talking about pricey common skills like guild down and health up [who are incidentally both notorious for horrible sac retention rates])

i have leveled a skill up to ( with singles. i dont understand why ATeam doesnt make things consistent

Back before I knew what I was doing, I brute force leveled Sky Dragon to skill 9 using singles. I don't even want to know how many singles were wasted in the process.
