Wipe and restore did it to mine though it actually crashed and I'm stuck with new character.

Actually when you update the firmware or upgrade or restore it . It will wipe out the game data but each iPhone/iPad has a unique Id and if you keep making accounts with the same Id they will block your I'd and you won't be able to use the app on that device.

isnt it the same as deleting the app from your iphone/ipad and reinstalling it again then yoou have a clean slate?

my other iphone games that have been deleted (and i later wanted to play and reinstalled them) had made me restart from scratch.

Deleting the app doeznt seem to affect it just reloading the phone seems to in my experience with DS
