Yo guys and gals!
a question for the vets out there (i'm lvl 81 atm) about a team I was thinking of:

Gold Gorger Dragon+, skill changed to Celestial Lightning (20)
Steel Wings, Raminas+, skill changed to Celestial Lightning (20)
Ash Bahamut+, skill changed to Celestial Lightning (20)
Banished Dragon+, skill changed to Celestial Lightning (20)
Lindwurm+, Agility (20)

2x combo - Wyrm and Winged for a total +25% attack (other doesn't matter).

First of all, does such a team work? I mean, do more than one lightning activate on the first turn?

if yes, then we have probably the "I win" button. Game over. There may be some more convenient combos but you get the point. It's VERY expensive to get but to some people money doesn't seem to be a problem.

Sea of clouds isnt winged.

You'll also get obliterated on defense because of no skills and 4AA/A(agi20) will first strike on you

Ash/ranimas cl(20)/ gorger/banished changed to dea/ipd and lind would be better.

Ash/ranimas have atk that scales well with cl. You really need skills so survive first round defensive.

This should be nearly invincible

I'm actually thinking that you will only get one shot of one cl even if you have five, one on each monster. the other skills dont stack, i bet the cl doesnt either

Thinking in terms of what this would end up costing you, I'm thinking you might have more fun if you bought a Ferrari instead.

But yeah, there are way cheaper ways to put together a team that would win every offensive battle and lose every defensive battle.

watch wyrm down come out and then basically a dea(20) wyrm(20) and ipd(20) and impulse(20) and etc. and u won't even phase them.

cl/at/hb

are NOT affected by any attack modifying skills when determining the amount of damage they will deal (ipa will not boost, dea will not decrease, guild/species down will not affect)

are NOT affected by any defense whatsoever, so you'll hit through 15k defense the same as you'd hit through 5k defense, ipd won't slow it down, and guild/species down and ded won't make it hit any harder

they are only affected by the skill level, like at(2) will do more damage than at(1) etc...

and aside from being affected by the skill level, the damage scales with the monster's attack stat

so a monster with 10k attack and CL(1) will do more damage than a monster with 8k attack and CL(1)

8k atk HB(4) > 8k atk HB(3)
9k atk AT(5) > 7k atk AT(5)

and so on

sorry jess, but from what i have seen ingame, and from what other players have mentioned before, cl doesn't scale with monster's attak and is directly affected by (de)buffs. i have faced a maxed 28 bp AA+ with cl 20 and my sdm+m(20) was able to cut it's atk to about 5k. i'm sure said AA+m normally enjoys more damage when not hampered by my dea 20(kevin was the one using it, i think, was a beast king AA+). of course, i may be wrong, a lot more testing is needed to determine what truly affects these skills, and the current scarcity of blood red, pure white, and thunder spirits makes it difficult to do proper testing. the fact that most SoS/+ have been used already makes it even more difficult.

Ooh, I'm just repeating what I was told lol, but I was pretty sure there was something about ignoring defense...

I'm pretty sure it scales with attack though since AAs with celestial lightning (1) seem to do more than As with celestial lightning (1)

I guess it stands to reason that if it scales with attack, it can be affected by ipa and dea... but haha I kind of generalized the "ignores attack skills" part on the spot from the ignores defense part


Do CL/AT/HB all work in the exact same way? (other than CL hitting multiple targets for less damage part)

I'm almost 100% sure they all ignore defense. Unless some stuff changed...


I think agility in battles changed some time ago too...

I know attacking someone with 2 more agility used to mean first strike for the attacker, but maybe it has something to do with how agility isn't a raw value but a modifier, but now it seems to be back (well, my DEMONS wouldn't first strike against people with exactly 2 more agi, but for some reason my brutes did before I switched to demons, and now they DO first strike again since I've switched back to brutes)

FYI, It is affected by defense and skills.

Gess+ with CL20 did 5k damage to my team.

Also, when I used to play Vic+, her damage would vary greatly depending on the opponent. From 19K to 8k.

Hmm,

It was a common understanding that HB/AT were not affected by IPA/DEA for some time.

Actually a statement made on this very forum multiple times (google it and check it out); confirmatory reports, mostly made between august and october when vic and mad flame were relatively new.

I suppose everyone was wrong all along, OR they tweaked the system

I feel inclined to lean towards the latter.

They really DO do behind the scenes changes. In rank climbing; you fight the same people almost every day. You really get to remember what people's skill levels are, and every now and then the Agi attack priority seems to change slightly. (i.e. one day I attack some guy with 2 higher agi, I first strike, the next day, he first strikes; neither of our agi levels changed), and AAs seemed to get an agi boost recently as well; where someone has a hybrid AA/A team with agi lower than mine and I usually first strike completely, but one day without ANY level changes, their AA hits first).

I remarked on all of these things at the time of their occurrence, but mainly in-game. so I don't remember the numbers. but they certainly DO keep tweaking things behind the scenes.


Changes in skill interaction are far more obvious to mid level players; when you're dealing with all (1)s or all (20)s all the time, it is not as easy to notice, but in the 12-18 range, these changes are far more apparent.

i usually write a paragraph when i talk about CL, this time ill just say....



"CL sucks." sell it to a noob who doesnt know better. and if your thinking of buying cl, dont, use the potions for other things. youll be happier in the end.

"oh but CL(20) this and CL (20) that" ppl will reply.

LMAO. by the time you pay 10093845897298723 potions to do so, you will have spent 4x the amount to make a team just as bad ass 4x over.

bottom line, ill be happy when the skill is extinct.

use cl on 16 bp aa+
then use ded/ipa on a c+ 1bp monster

then go around crushing noobs at 18bp attack cost!
