Guideline for auction placement [input needed]
Thought it'd be nice to have a guideline on how much to spend for auction placement (without filters). I put some estimations that might be off, would need all of your inputs on this to make it more acurate. I'll edit the post with your coments.
It's important to note there is much variation in AH prices with events, so this has to be taken as a gross estimate rather than a perfect matching system. [Thanks to silentsong for pointing that out]
#1 spot: 3 million
Page 1: 2.5 million
Page 2: 2 million
Page 3-4: 1.5 million
Page 5-6: 1 million
Page 7-10: 750k

Re: Guideline for auction placement [input needed]
This is very difficult if not possible to make a list of how much gold it takes because, just like the real world, the market is in constant fluctuation.
Generally the amount to get to page one in the AH is at its highest directly after an event. The most expensive of these situations is after long ranking events that dish out a good bit of gold; the reason being that people are rushing to get their big AA prizes sold off before the price starts to drop once the market becomes flooded. You could expect upwards of 4 mil for the top spot.
The cheapest times to get top spots in the AH is in the middle of events that do not hand out very good monsters mid-event, or if the current event gives a marginal amount of gold (E.G. the mobius event). The cheapest time for getting the top spot is if the current event matches both of the aforementioned criteria. In this case, a mere million might land you in the top of the auction house.

Thanks for that precision, silentsong. Of course this guideline has to be taken into the market context, but I still think it can be usefull if completed. That's why the more input the better so variations can be taken into account.

Both 800000 and 771000 put me on pg 4 (AA filter) and pg 7 (overall)

1.4m placed me at the top of page 4.
It didn't stay on page 4, it sometimes got to page 2,3,5. (From bankers comments)

Re: Guideline for auction placement [input needed]
I always find myself interested in economy and value, so I decided I would gain as much knowlege as I could on the economy of dark summoner.
To simplify all my studies and observations I will use a true example of how I got to the first spot of auction page 1.
I watched the events and how much gold they provided, I watched the count of monsters people would want to sell and the monsters that would provoke the initiative to spend lots of gold for a decent auction spot. I waited until I saw the mobius event as fit enough, the gold income was low, the monsters were plentiful, skills were cheap and circulating quickly through trades and about2punt's wall, leaving the AH open near the early middle of the event. I had been saving, and I had accumulated a total of about 1.3 million gold, which in moder DS standards isn't a load of cash anymore anyways. I spent it all, and I managed to put a sin demon team at the top spot of page 1 in the auction house. It was most DEFINATELY worth it, You want to know what I milked my sin demon team for? It was Balrog+(celestial), Pit+(9) Kag+(4) Spite+(20) Asura+(20)
I got 510 ep. That's outrageous!
A huge reason why I got such a generous deal is because I got that number 1 auction spot, and some rich fellow quickly stumbled upon it, saw what he wanted, and over payed.
Be patient, bank your gold, save it, wait for the right moment to strike, and you will get the most out of your monsters/items.
Remember, low event gold income is the biggest factor in auction placement, other factors to consider are:
Lots of skill monsters? Great for AH placement
Not a lot of sellable monsters? Great for AH placement
Nothing from the event many people are looking for? Great for AH placement
Distractions from money and/or getting rid of monsters? Great for AH placement
No Dark Summon Sub-Event (11x dark summon, dual dark summon, etc.) going on? Great for AH placement.
Just wait for the stars to align and go for it!

Re: Guideline for auction placement [input needed]
800,000 routinely lands me on page 8 with no filter- give or take a page. That's usually my point of reference.
After this last event (with all the Sei's taking up the first few pages), 1.6 million got me on page 6 with no filter, but once those cleared I was up to the top of page 4.
