I've been a daily player of Dark Summoner for a while now but have quickly become a fan of War of Legions. The startup screen is awesome with detailed graphics,. The warrior/monster pairing of cards is an interesting difference from DS. As of now leveling, gold and jewels are easy to acquire making advancement in the game quick. My favorite feature of WOL are the real time battles set up for the guilds (clans). Since WOL is new, many of the guilds have inactive members which was a disappointment for me so I'm currently expanding from the clan that a friend of mine started in DS (Razor's Edge). If you check out WOL and need a clan to try out the real time battles the clan ID is 292079606. There are a few glitches but Ateam is already aware of most of them and are currently working on them. An example is that at times the buttons get cut off and you have to restart the game in order to use them. Overall, I'm really impressed with WOL and look forward to seeing the game advance.

The only "negatives" I've come across in WOL are:

The artwork. (LOVE the dark theme of DS. Not as much the cartoony S&S graphics these days. If it was more "Boris Vallejo", I'd be on board, but...)

Now that I'm at a higher level, I'm kind of like "What do i do?" There aren't any real events yet, and no trading to browse, so I just log out once my AP is depleted.

Enhancing your monsters or warriors is a bit cumbersome. I like the list in DS; WOL you have to choose one at a time by jumping between screens.

There are some other small points, but all in all it's a good game. Initially I said it felt a lot different than DS, but now that I'm deeper into it, the window dressing is different but the core mechanics are about the same.

Since it's new and there are a few things I'm having fun with, I'll keep playing. But it still doesn't give me that "crack" effect of wanting to log in every second to play, like DS often does for me.

War of Legions is an awesome game so far. Its real smooth and I havnt personally encountered any glitches yet, but keep in mind that it is a pretty new game so theres much more to be improved on. But is has a great basis for a game that you can get hooked on just like DS. I love the fact the this game is more focused on the guilds and clans and battling between them. TIP: Find an active clan to do battle with because there are a good number of players not really battling yet but once again thats due to the newness of the game. Another great and new system is the formation line-up. You have a 5 monster and 5 warrior mix that allows for endless possibilities when assembling your formation. The warriors are the ones who have skills and the monsters are the bulk of the atk / def / hp. LOTS of combos as well. No trading system implemented yet but once it is then this game will be in my opinion better than DS. Add my ID once starting the game to receive 2 High Rare Warriors which are crucial for getting a good start in this game: 1900786878 // 1900786878

My username is SereneDeath in WOL so look me up Smile

I'm honestly surprised there isn't much more chatter on these threads for WOL. I thought I would revisit the idea of a review as a couple events have now passed.

From the start, you'll notice the intro video and song. Great animation. I'd say a step up from DS. I thought the song choice was very fitting, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the song is "sulfur" by slipknot. I'm not a metalhead, but myself and others I know would listen to them before big games while putting on our battle faces.

Pumped by the song and vid, I find an interface similar to DS, but (in my opinion) smoother and quicker. Jewels (aka wol soul points) were given away like candy. Potions also were. EP is now AP (for action points). Taking them cautiously, I managed to summon forms mostly consisting of high rare monsters.

As far as rarity, a new system has been implemented. My personal opinion is that this is matching other games, making (a hopeful) transition to WOL easier. No longer do alphabet rarities exist. C's are now normal. B's are high normal. A's are rare. AAs are high rare. AAA's are special rare, and AAA+ or EX are Xrare. Evolution of cards can produce a higher rarity. Cards can also have multiple evolution stages, indicated by the dots at the bottom. Rarity is also indicated by star count - more stars, higher rarity.

Missions seem more engaging instead of a side note to events. There is what appears to be a story coupled with animations, unlike DS. Regular clan battles are fun, provided you have a clan that has more than two actives. Several skills are new, including some that affect multiple enemies at once. And the pairing of warriors to monsters is an interesting change up as someone above pointed out. Also, elementals keep it fresh, as you actively have to think about who you're attacking and with what form.

As far as positives; I'll end with events. Clan cooperation is fresh and fun. Using that cooperation to compete one to one against rival clans keeps it more interesting.

In talking about new features, I hope some people may have a better idea as to what to expect. While those are all (relatively) pros, here are some cons.

Aside from the start and finish of individual missions where story is concerned, tapping to repeatedly slay enemies as the screen auto-scrolls in a linear fashion for me gets dull at times and repetitive.

Several glitches - ATeam has been quick to remedy these

Free potions burn up extremely fast. The game often prompts you to buy more once you run out and attempt to perform an action requiring more BP or AP than you have. 5 clan battles a day takes its toll if you're a hardcore gamer.

Leveling monsters is very expensive. Because of this, I rarely have gold to donate to guild coffers.

Lastly, and this is my biggest issue - release did not occur simultaneously with android. A massive player base is cut off and will enter much further behind when it is released.

Hope this helps, and sorry for length

Guild battles are definitely a lot of fun in this game, but I get a ton of lag when I'm playing them. I play on an ipod, but not sure if that matters.

Anyway, I'll be playing an A rank guild, trying to get my BP to recharge, and by the time I'm done, I'm dead from some onslaught I didn't see. It's frustrating for me... but i still like the game as a whole.

I am also surprised that not too many people are talking about this.

The clan battles require so much collaboration and strategy, that it felt like sporting event.    Potions can burn up fast for event, but not for guild battles.  Although, clans are located from all over the world, this is mainly Japanese vs. everyone else.   However, Japanese clans have there own events so we don't compete with them for ranking for event (good thing since no one will win against them).

@Ologolos, Rank-A battles are completed different than Rank B/C battles.  You guys better have cheer/cure/revive plan, or you will be ko 3x under 5min.
