Thoughts on Clan Wars
I think Clan Wars wasn't a bad event (coming from someone who will not get anything of value from the event). I thought is was different and fun. That said some things I hope they eventually add in....
1) Like the changes from Forgotten Island 1 to 2. I would like to see the opportunity to select from various clan members instead of some random automatic selection. I have a 159BP AA+ maxed Psycho Mystic Squad. A Level 21 B+ mixed team is no fun to fight, it's the equivalent of being a school bully. I would rather face another high BP squad against someone in the level level range as I am, its more fun (and fair) that way win or lose. It's also unfair for the opposite to happen, a low level player shouldn't draw someone at level 120+, its not a fair fight.
2) Make the CP earned be based upon the BP level of the person you are fighting, rather than the BP you expend. This way it encourages people to fight the stronger players, and calls for more clan strategy (knowing your formations limitations and choosing your battles wisely).
3) I like the chain bonus idea, but I think a 10 minute window for a 60 minute fight is too big. 5 minutes is probably better.
Just my thoughts from this event which I think can become a very good, fun event to have every couple weeks (or once a month even).
Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think it's important I say this before the rankings come out and everyone bases their opinion on whether or not they got anything.
Come what may; this was best event ever, I've never had this much fun playing DS before

Responses to your well constructed post:
(my bias if any comes from a 15-9 clan record with about 7 actives and unfortunately ~25 incactives)
1. Im ok with a totally random pairing, its not that hard to switch forms if overmatched and use 20% in a loss. teams with better forms should have an advantage.
2. I think it should be a combination of the two, I do like your idea but also believe the amount you spend should contribute as well.
3. 10 minutes was actually sometimes difficult for us to hold depending on the time of day so have no problem there. 5 seems too low for a clan closer to the 50% mark. I can see why someone near the top would think 5 mins is better but I think for the masses 10 is much better.
4. ! yes im adding a 4, if a member has not loggen in to DS for the past xx days allow them to be kicked through the event. could be 10 days, 20 days, 50 days. we didn't want to kick someone a day or 2 before the event not knowing if they were just a casual player or had quit..

Re: Thoughts on Clan Wars
My thoughts:
1) Explain score so people understand how to rank and you don't end up with hundred of angry summoners.
2) Battle page needs fast form switch. In hard battles going to home and forms can mean the difference between a win and loss, esp if mult form changes needed
3) Move the recover BP button away from the change opponent button. I accidentally wasted a lot of energy when battling hard and quick to get chains up.
4) Make chains require some strategy vs brute force BP expenditure. Battles could easily be lost if fully active clan fights clan with 2 members 2 minutes late.
5) Unrelated to this event, but it'd be nice to see a battle challenge event where clan teamwork like this is required.
6) NO PROGS!!! Event at higher levels became only about who could obtain more progs versus actually having a good well-thought out team.
That said, great event. I'm enjoying my AAAs :-)

Re: Thoughts on Clan Wars
I don't care what ATeam does, as long as they explain how the event works. They generally overexplain events to the point where no one bothers to read the instructions, but this time, the basic premise of how teams earn the points that actually decide the entire contest, wasn't explained in the least... and don't even get me started about the last match bonus points.
I don't need this much guesswork. Just tell me how the event works, and I'll decide if it's worth my time, and if so, how best to play it.
As for the matchups, really, there's got to be a better way. What's the point of a "clan" event, where you'd be better off making a one-person clan and playing possum for every match?

I think that Ateam's logic is pretty simple: make the clans that expend a lot of BP fight eachother, so that everyone spends even more BP and has to buy more from the shop for $$. It's not "fair" in the sense of determining who's the best or strongest, but that wasn't their goal.
But like all of their events, I expect this one to get better over time. Hopefully it will be a regular thing because it was fun and exciting.

I think the matchup is fine. Shouldnt be random
If it was random, how can we say clan no1 is the strongest if all of its opponent are junk clan
Now we can accept that PU is strongest since theyre beat other strong clans

You know what ? I did not liked this event. I have done like 4-5 wars that's all.
Maybe because my clan isn't active at all... who know... well nevermind.

Re: Thoughts on Clan Wars
I liked the event a lot. However it was too dependent on how much potions you had. I spend all my 80 something mybps, about 35 100bps and some 100ep/bp elixers. I am completely out of BP potions so if anytime soon another similar event is here then I will not participate.
I understand the whole of DS is run by potions but the problem with this event was that if you did not invest a whopping great deal of potions you did not get ANYTHING in return. With other events you can simply use your points and still get something and this keeps you going.
I ranked 1250 and got an AA summon which was nice.
EDIT: just summoned a VLAD so this event sucked bigtime!

Re: Thoughts on Clan Wars
we went from 64 to 185 between penultimate and final rank, but many of us individually ranked
I feel this was a thoroughly enjoyable event.
and to anybody who is feeling a bit mad about how it turned out?
it was obvious from the get-go that rewards (the 43bp winged crappy skill critters) were not going to be worth the cost of ranking since there were going to be well like three thousand of them lol (unless you're one of the rare clans which lucked out big time and got nothing but inactives; check out rank 20 and 21, ~100k points and... well ranked 20 and 21!, but even they probably spent more than they can get in return for the rank AA)
glancing at the rewards without even reading the notes before the event start it was pretty clear that spending more than say 20bp was going to be a loss! 20bp being worth about 40ep for the event; if you really wanted one, you could have just sat around and waited to buy one for 40ep hours after
but you don't pay a carny 2 bucks to let you shoot at cans with an air-rifle because you desperately want the giant teddy bear, you do it because you want to shoot at cans.
most fun event in DS history if you ask me!
I hope they do more like it
let's hear more about what everybody got from their AA summons!
that's the thing that got me excited for this event, and I know we have a lot of individual rankers on this forum

hehe I already knew that!
You might have beat me by 500 in individual rank, but my AA summon beats yours by 2bp
I was going to edit this into my post but since you already posted, did any of you other guys have formal strategies for clan wars? this was ours
http://textuploader.com/?p=6&id=FMeL
sure, we didn't do super fantastic, but it got us quite far (rank 7 mid way, rank 64 before final day, the 5 point final battle was a complete curveball , we decided to capitalize on battles prior to that since "everyone is going to burn everything at final to maximize cp and individual rank, so lets try for the battles beforehand and call final an acceptable loss" which didn't work out all that well lol)

Re: Thoughts on Clan Wars
I enjoyed it. Was completely nerve racking at times, and ranked #6 with a half full clan
I think we were better off with less people, but people that went hard every time and had crackin' forms which prevented other clans to run scores up on us.
Hence we were also able to place with less total CP than a lot of other clans.
Anyways, a ton of fun, but my nerves are glad its over. Lol.
AA summon was crap as usual, getting my 5th Dru.
The first of my 2 free dark summons from event was a Soltan tho.

But most people were also taking into account the individual rank awards when doing that sort of cost/benefit analysis. The clan award was something extra, and for clan pride and recognition. We have a couple open spots, and it would've been much easier to attract some good players if we could say we were a top 16 clan, instead of having that last match make our rank implode.

My AA summon was a taroth...my AA summon from the last event that gave them out (the grow your own monster one) was a taroth...I don't remember where I got my first one, but it was a taroth, I seem to be summoning AAs from an exceptionally small pool

quite true, although that would only double the buy-in threshold to what? 40bp = 80ep?, and I don't think many people who spent less than 40bp individually ranked. there is no roi for this event, no matter how you look at it. unless you individual rank 2k and AA summon something ridiculous; but as we all know these AA summons seem to be scraping the bottom of the AA barrel.
I'm frankly surprised they're even going for 40ep, I assumed much less at event start.
We were in it for recognition too (well that's how I justified what I put aside for the event prior), would have been nice to add something like that to a clan thread or description for recruitment purposes. but in perspective; now that the event is said and done; are you going to evaluate a clan's "quality" by their rank in this event? It might be a lure for brand new players who join after clan wars, but nobody is actively trying to snag them anyways
i.e. rank 20 in clan wars had 135k cp, rank 125 had 1.2m cp
