Viable A Formations

Post by Ologolos on Wed May 29, 2013 12:49 pm

I read about the viability of A-rank formations frequently, but I also notice A team releasing higher and higher BP Progs. The latest group of non-cypher monsters is 40 bp, some of which have stats over 9000 in the unevolved form AND decent skills. Evolved, some of these things might have stats with 5 digits.

Sure, BP for BP they're not as strong as a 40 BP AA monster, but I think they could definitely compete with 20-25 BP AAs, and they're overall a lot cheaper to evolve / max level.

So where is this all going? Will we eventually see 50+ BP A progs? We already have 50 BP AAs, so why not? And what is this doing to the AAAs? I don't know the formulas for calculating the stats, but doesn't it seem like a 100 BP AA would be much better than the current 100 bp AAAs, skills aside?

Due to A-rank having lower agility than AA-rank, I still don't think A formations are viable (at least not full A-rank formation). Also it is not very hard to get a good AA+ team either (all with 26+ bp), so why waste time build A rank formation.

I think a solid A+ team smack an AA low bp team. But they must be +m(20) with IPD, IPA, DED, DEA, AGI.
Or at least AGI, IPA, Guild down / CL, AT... .

Agility, IPA, DED, and Guild down for whatever guild you are attacking would be ideal.

There are actually formulas that can help us gauge this pretty well. (You can check out stickied threads for more details, if you like.)

A+ and AA+ monsters have a set number of total points between Attack, Defense, and HP based on their BP.

A 40 BP A+ has ~26200, 30 BP A+ has ~21900.

In contrast, a 16 BP AA+ has 27900. Even the 'terrible' 13 BP AA+ is almost as good as a 40BP A+. In short, A+ is never as strong as AA+ in stats.

The only direct advantage a maxed A+ team has is that it doesn't have to lose 2 combos to gain Agility (Rarity and Level). With hybrid rarity combos, that's no longer nearly the bonus it once was.

That said, a good A+ team can still take a weaker AA+ team for a few reasons.
- Weak AA+ teams tend to have bad skill sets; many cards have no skill at all.
- Most AA+ teams do not have agility (although hybrid combos might change this), and first strike goes a long way toward winning, even with lower stats
- Donner, Vic, and Mad Flame are pretty cheap now, and can really hurt... as long as the gap isn't too big.

I'm over level 100 and still using an A+ covert demon team led by Donner, and I win a lot, even against a fair number of AA+ teams. The problem is it'll be hard to gradually shift to AA+ from here, and I'm already starting to have trouble if I don't pick my opponents carefully. The way the system works now, A+ is just a cheap, quick step to something better.

Using those formulas, an AAA with total stats of 55490 is equivalent to a 60 bp AA+.

An AAA+ with total stats of 64728 is equivalent to a 75 bp AA+.

A 100bp AA+ would have total stats of 79980.

hmmmm...

I noticed that too. The AAA+ have consistent max stats (except the Cyphers), but their stats are nowhere near what an AA+ would be.

I expect they're either going to break the AA formula or avoid releasing AA above a certain BP threshold. If not, they've kind of crippled AAA in the long run.

Always thought the 100BP cost on those was pretty high considering the stats. Guess the numbers prove it.
