Hello!

I was wondering if there was any way to designate a usergroup for clan members for easy pm-ing

we have 20+ members on the forum, and copy and pasting everyone's name from the clan roster into the add person thing in the pm system thing every time is rather tedious.

Is there any way to *group* these account names so that it is easier to send a message to everyone?

If there's a way to do this; I am very interested in what it is.

if not... what exactly is the procedure required for getting a usergroup for this purpose? I'm certainly not requesting anything special for the names; as I'm sure that the special usergroup name colors (yellow, pink, orange, black, etc...) are probably reserved for forum administrators, owners or friends of administrators/owners etc... But just some sort of hidden usergroup status that makes mass-pming easy.

Thanks.

talk to an admin. there certainly is a user group called adrenaline rush, which doesn't have a special color thing of it's own. fact is, i should probably ask zamiel or syrok for some help with that for my own clan, since we do have a fair number of users on the forums too, lol

This is a good idea, but in the meantime, why not set up a facebook group for easy mass messaging?

maybe because not everyone likes using facebook? you'll be surprised how many players don't like using ANY form of out of game communication, and how many would consider only the forums as a place to communicate out of game. i myself detest facebook and especially twitter, i feel like if you need to reach me, you can find me on forum, on a messenger i happen to be using for some reason, in game, or via direct text(if you have my number(not many do)). but i don't really like any of these "social networks" *barfs*

I hate facebook as much as anyone. I'd definitely challenge you to that contest. I don't use it for anything other than clan business, and all my info is completely fictitious, but as much as I can't stand it, it has been useful for clan communication.

Thank you everyone for the input.

The problem is that this is not an overly complicated issue to rectify (many trivial solutions exist; a separate forum purely for clan business, the facebook thing, basic email, palringo, etc...) however this being a game and not a business enterprise, it would be functionally impossible to mandate use of any of these channels, not to mention, I personally wouldn't want to use any of those, and if I was looking to join a clan and saw something like "you must have these dozen game-external chat clients and communication channels, you must register at this site, you must attend our bi-weekly teleconference, etc etc..." I wouldn't want to have anything to do with those people lol.

I think a sub-forum might be best possible solution.

All I really wanted was some easy place to make announcements (like this upcoming alliance joint-clan thing to take applications [admittedly this happened after I made the first post in this thread, but it just goes to show how some sort of mailing groups would be useful], or we always have plenty of members with many surplus event A and AAs monsters which they are trying to give away or swap for catalog purposes, or even special in-clan deals on trades, and having everyone try to post "anybody want ______ ?" becomes a bit of a clusterfuck when you have 33 people, not to mention the fact that clan chat page is of limited size, so many of those sink off the page before they can be seen, the 140 char limit is also atrocious. they need to STOP you from typing past 140, because I always end up wondering how many things I need to delete so it'll post.
